Financial statements and audit reports

The Accounting Division manages and maintains the City's fully integrated accounting system and ensures compliance with effective GRAP (General Recognised Accounting Practice) standards. The division furthermore co-ordinates VAT administration, audit reports, and the accounting aspects of grants and donations. It also compiles financial statements, management reports and financial statistical returns.

Audit reports

The City of Cape Town has received 22 unqualified audit reports since the 2003/2004 financial year. This follows on from the successful implementation of the new accounting guidelines that were put in place to insure fair presentation and compliance with  National Treasury guidelines.

The Asset Management Division formulates and develops policies and strategies for effective asset management and ensures that the City’s assets are recorded in the fixed asset register.

View the City's annual reports for feedback on the City's achievements in line with the objectives set out in the relevant Integrated Development Plan.
